I was born in Lubbock, Tx on April 4,1963. I am the 2nd of 4 children, having an older brother and 2 younger sisters. We moved to Rockwall when I was 12, I loved growing up in a small town. I was active in church, drill team and finally cheerleading. In 1985 I graduated from Dallas Baptist University with a BSN. My first job is my current job! Methodist Dallas Medical Center has been my home as a neonatal nurse for 25 years. I have been privileged to care for the smallest patients from delivery to discharge. I am so thankful for my career! Two of my greatest joys in life are my children, Emma, 19 years and Sawyer, 17 years. They have taught me to love deeply, forgive quickly and extend grace freely.
Balance and moderation are important in my diet and in my training. I have learned as I have aged that relationships are my priority. My parents raised us “eating healthy” I say we were “granola” before that was popular! We only had raisin bran or grape nuts, no captain crunch or fruity pebbles in our family! We ate a lot of fruits and veggies from our home garden and didn’t have much sugar or processed foods. That foundation is what I believe began my desire to live a healthy lifestyle. I began exercising in my early 20’s. My passions have been varied, from step aerobics, to running, to free weights, to my current passion crossfit. Taking care of my body, from what I eat, to what products I use on my skin to how I train are not a fad for me but a lifestyle. I believe taking care of my body is honoring to God and I want to bring Him glory in the choices I make, even in the way I care for my body.
